Qatar Airways Cargo wins 2021 Cargo Airline award

Doha: Qatar Airways Cargo, one of the world’s leading international air cargo carriers, has added yet another feather to its cap by winning international awards. Qatar Airways Cargo has won ‘Cargo Airline of the Year 2021’ award at the World Air Cargo Awards by the Air Cargo Week. The cargo carrier also won ‘Air Cargo Industry Achievement 2021’ award.
World Air Cargo awards were organised virtually this time, early this month, due to challenges created by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Qatar Airways Cargo won the ‘Cargo Airline of the Year 2021’ award leaving behind many major names in the global air cargo industry. The World Air Cargo Awards celebrates excellence and achievement in the global air cargo industry.
The world’s leading air cargo carrier has won many prestigious awards in the past. Last year, Qatar Airways Cargo was presented with the ‘International Cargo Airline of the Year’ award by STAT Times.
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Qatar Airways Cargo has been helping transport essential medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, perishables and other vital cargo around the world through belly-hold cargo on passenger flights and freighters.
Qatar Airways Cargo serves more than 60 freighter destinations worldwide via its world-class Doha hub and also delivers freight in the belly-hold of passenger aircraft to an extensive global network. In January this year, the cargo carrier took delivery of three brand new Boeing 777 freighters, bringing its total freighter fleet count to 30 freighters, consisting of two Boeing 747 freighters, 24 Boeing 777 Freighters and four Airbus A330 freighters.
The airline has played a significant role throughout the pandemic and is committed to helping people and giving back to communities, in alignment with its sustainability programme WeQare, based on the core pillars of sustainability – environment, society, economy and culture.
Since December 2020, Qatar Airways Cargo has transported COVID-19 vaccines to several countries around the world including Qatar, providing large populations access to vital vaccines, thanks to the dedication and coordinated efforts of its global teams and ground handling partners.
The cargo carrier has also worked closely with governments and NGOs to transport medical and aid supplies to impacted regions around the world on both scheduled and charter services.
Qatar Airways Cargo has made substantial investment in its hub with experienced staff and premium facilities to ensure all cargo deliveries are processed efficiently and seamlessly. Qatar Airways Cargo’s portfolio of distinctive products currently includes QR Fresh, QR Pharma, QR Live, QR Charter, QR Express and QR Mail offering efficiency and compliance in the handling of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals and perishable cargo, transportation of live animals as well as time-critical shipments.
Qatar Airways has become the first global airline in the world to achieve the prestigious 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by international air transport rating organisation, Skytrax. This follows HIA’s recent success as the first and only airport in the Middle East and Asia to be awarded a Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating.
